If you meet IPON’s eligibility criteria, your application will be assessed based on your IP readiness and business stage. IPON clients can access the following services: 

How IPON helps

Tier 1

  • IP education

  • IP benchmarking

  • IP coaching

  • Client Q&A sessions

  • IP events and workshops

Tier 1 with funding

  • Everything in Tier 1

  • IP insurance

  • IP funding of up to $25,000 per year

Tier 2

  • Everything in Tier 1

  • IP insurance

  • IP funding of up to $100,000 per year, with a lifetime cap of $300,000. Clients from equity-deserving groups are eligible for an additional $25,000 per year.

  • IP funding can help you support, build, maintain and protect your commercialization and market opportunities.  

    IPON funding can be used to develop your:

    • IP agreements (non-disclosure, licenses, master service, partnership) 

    • IP survey/audit 

    • IP strategy 

    • IP registration  

    Eligible clients who have completed their mandatory learning prerequisites can apply for funding as needed throughout the year until funding is fully allocated.

    Funding is conditional on an approved scope of work. Clients are required to pay at least 20% of eligible services/disbursements and all applicable taxes (HST). IPON covers up to 80% of eligible costs.

    IPON-funded services must be forward-looking and be provided by licensed Ontario IP lawyers or registered patent agents on IPON’s Service Provider Roster.
