IPON Begins Accepting Applications From the Auto Sector for Its Set of Services

Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) applications are now open until December 23, 2022, for eligible Ontario-based automotive companies to receive up to $25,000 in funding for intellectual property (IP) services like patent or trademark registrations; IP education programs; and one-on-one mentorship programs. IPON’s is a centralized resource that provides trusted support and services to help businesses and innovators develop and protect their valuable IP. This has economic benefits for both industry and the people of Ontario.

Ontario is home to an internationally competitive auto sector working on cutting edge technologies like electric-hybrid powertrain systems, driverless vehicles and smart car technologies. IPON is the first provincial agency in Canada specifically focused on helping companies including those in the auto sector manage and protect their IP. Not only will this result in the industry reaping the economic benefits, but also all Ontarians.

Marks the second call for in-take since IPON opened in October

The move into Ontario’s auto industry follows the successful October launch of IPON in October which focused on the medtech sector services, which also included funding and other IP support. IPON’s mandate is to help advance Ontario’s economic growth and competitiveness by helping clients better understand how to protect and maximize the value of their IP, strengthen their capacity to grow, compete in the market, and enhance research and commercialization outcomes.

The application period for the automotive sector is open from December 2-23, 2022.
